The Hub Jorhat

About Us

History

The Hub Jorhat was set up in the year 2018 as an initiative of the Bosco Institute, Jorhat, which was started as a Post Graduate College for Social work under Dibrugarh University by the Salesians of Don Bosco of Dimapur Province in the year 2008.

In Bosco Institute, along with academics, entrepreneurship is promoted as a method of social work and as a dignified and sustainable tool of poverty alleviation and social development.

For a long time, a need has been felt of social enterprises to come up with use of innovative technologies for social work for development of the region in a sustainable manner. The idea of such an integration culminated into formation of The Hub Jorhat.

Who We Are

The Hub Jorhat is an ecosystem to encourage, support, train and mentor young entrepreneurs, micro enterprises, women entrepreneurs and social organizations. It serves as a capacity building hub of entrepreneurs while promoting socio-cultural innovation.

Challenges

Over the last decade, there has been seen a progressive and positive trend in the North Eastern region of India in the young population with higher qualifications, academic and  non-academic skill sets.

More often than not, they are not able to benefit from the many avenues of progress available through technological advancement, progressive policies and legislations, due to lack of opportunities, exposure, resources, guidance and mentoring

The unavailability of jobs is limited leaving many of them unemployed, while the rest leave their homes and migrate outside the region in search of better avenues.

The Hub Jorhat hence provides that needed space to the youth of the region to enable them to identify, enhance, and utilize their own capacities and to build beyond, while making use of the abundant resources available in the region.
