With the blazing heat of the Sun in the sky, the month of July the advent of summer starts. To beat the heat, the schools are declared a long month of vacation commonly known as the “Summer Vacation”. For this summer vacation “The Hub” and Makerspace of Bosco Institute, Jorhat planned and organised a 10 days long Summer camp for the first time for the students of nearby Government Schools of the locality. Four Schools were selected for the summer camp namely Boliya Gohain ME School, 143 Baghchung Prathamik Vidalaya, Borbheta Prathamik Vidalaya, Baghchung Adarsha Lower Primary School.
Various activities with the theme “Learn with Fun” was organised for the students, art and crafts, prototype designing, pinwheel making, rock painting, clay modelling etc. were carried out by the students under the guidance and supervision of The HUB and Makerspace. A learning and practically designing tour was also organised for the students, where they visited the Makerspace and designed many prototypes, learned the basics functioning of a motor operated with a battery and had a through visit of the Makerspace where various other models and prototypes were demonstrated to them. The students also enrolled themselves to Makerspace, these students will be allowed to carry out activities related to art and craft and modelling as per their needs inside the premises of the makerspace.
A total number of 60 students attended the summer camp and enjoyed their days indulging themselves in fun and learn. This is the first time that a summer camp was organised for the students in the locality and with a positive and successful ending of the camp, we are sure enough that such camps of the students can be organised with more interesting activities in the near future.
