India has a Social development sector today. It has broadened its scope, outreach, approaches, and innovations and many of these are complementing the government’s own efforts. Some are being scaled up and adopted by the government as well as other players. The sector has occupied a definite place in the modern Indian state. But the fact also remains that the environment in which the social development sector operates in India today is much more complex. They are faced with constrained democratic spaces, stringent laws as well as shrinking funding opportunities.
With the exponential growth in numbers of social development sectors, on the one hand, shrinking funding opportunities as well as stringent rules and regulations on the other, it is not surprising that there are more competitions. The national, as well as international funding organizations, look forward to the social development organizations that are more professional in terms of sophistication in designing projects, in scientific management of projects as well as managing finance. In this backdrop, it is needless to say that the social development organizations have to act smarter to survive, thrive, and grow their work. They have to be future-ready in order to face challenges of today and even more complex tomorrow.
One of the elements of the future-ready organizations is training and capacity building of its employees, while, there are other elements like Organizational Capacity and creating an enabling environment for a long-term success that need attention.
What Training Means to Us?
Training is an important mechanism of enhancement of institutional capacity. It presents a prime opportunity to expand the knowledge base of all employees of an organization, enables employees to carry out a task, or to perform it more efficiently and effectively. Thus, capacity building should be carried out throughout the life cycle of the institution. While employers are conscious about the training needs of its employees, many times they are unable to avail of such opportunities as they are either expensive or held outside the region.
Considering all these, Bosco Institute (BI) Jorhat has decided to expand its current programs, and in the process to establish an Innovation Hub in its premises – called the Hub Jorhat – supported by Childaid Network. One of the components of the Hub is about building the capacity of the social development organizations in the region. In this regard, the Hub Jorhat is organizing a series of trainings for the social organizations on a subsidized rate. Institute for Development Action (IDeA) the ant is the technical partner of Childaid Network and BI in this endeavor.
What is Offered?
The uniqueness of this training series is its Training Need Assessment. The training need assessment will help us to determine, what are the specific trainings and capacity building support are required for each organization for upcoming years. Besides, the training needs assessment, a few training programs have also been planned for this year.
Based on the experiences of working with voluntary organizations and feedback from thought leaders, a few broad areas have been identified for the training proposed for this year, which would be useful for the organizations. The broad topics include Project Development and Management, Accounts and Financial Management, M&E and Documentation, and Governance & Legal Compliance. The first three topics are designed for program supervisors, managers, and accountants. There is a colloquium for Senior Management and Board members on governance and legal compliance.
How do you benefit?
We believe that each topic will offer a chance to the trainee/employee as well as the Sr. Management and Board to reflect on individual practice, gain new understanding and skills, and learn about innovative approaches in development for sustainable development of the organization.
The yearlong training series would not only enable the trainee/employee of your organization to complete a course and get a certificate, but they would be more confident in their ability to take what they have learned and share with others within the organization. If any organization completes the whole series, there is also a partial fee back guarantee.
The group training would also offer unique opportunities for your employees to come together with people representing different organizations, listen to and learn from each other’s practice, foster commonality and build a peer network. This can be incredibly enlightening!
All the training sessions are interactive and participatory in approach. We ensure that all participants/trainees are deeply engaged in each session and learn new skills through a combination of theory, doing, reflection, and sharing. Our learning sessions are designed to appeal to different learning styles. It reaches beyond the formal course setting to include:
